Request additional funding, or approve a supplier's request

Updated 3 min read

When a job on a paid campaign will cost more than its budget, ask the seller for the difference with an additional funding request. A supplier can also ask for more; you approve or reject their request before it goes to the seller.

Part 1: Ask for more funding

  1. Open the campaign and select the item that will cost more. Its panel opens.
  2. Select Request additional funding. The Additional funding panel opens.
The Additional funding panel, filled in. Marker 1 is on Item name, 2 on Reason, 3 on Amount inc. GST and 4 on Request additional funding.

  1. Name the extra work in Item name (marker 1) and explain it in Reason (marker 2). The seller sees both.
  2. Enter the extra amount in Amount inc. GST (marker 3), then select Request additional funding (marker 4). The funding step opens. Nothing has been sent yet.

Part 2: Decide how it's paid for and send it

The funding step for a $400 request. Marker 1 is on Seller pays, 2 on how the cost is split, 3 on the refund credit to use, and 4 on the send button.

  1. Check Seller pays (marker 1) and how the cost is split (marker 2).
  2. Under Cover part of the cost, choose how much Refund credit (marker 3) to use. Whatever isn't covered, the seller pays.
  3. If your agency has an in-house item on the campaign with money not yet paid out, an Agency fee amount is also offered. It starts at $0. Enter an amount only if your agency means to pay for part of the extra work itself.
  4. Select Send approval request for $…, or Send for seller approval if the seller pays nothing (marker 4). The new line appears on the campaign.

The seller is emailed to review it. The new line shows Awaiting seller approval (marker 1) until they approve and pay their share; then the supplier can be paid for it. To cancel the request before the seller answers, select Withdraw request (marker 2), then confirm.

Once the seller has paid, the extra funding is an item like any other. If it's no longer needed and it's still Held (no supplier payment requested or paid), cancel it and its money goes to refund credit (see Cancel an item, close it out, or refund credit to the seller).

Part 3: Approve a supplier's request

A supplier's additional funding request, Funding pending. Marker 1 is on the request's supplier, amount and reason, 2 on Approve and 3 on Reject.

  1. A supplier's request appears as a new line with the status Funding pending. Select it. The panel shows Additional funding requested with the supplier, amount and reason (marker 1).
  2. To accept it, select Approve (marker 2). The same funding step as Part 2 opens: choose how it's paid for and send it to the seller.
  3. To refuse it, select Reject (marker 3), then Confirm rejection. Let the supplier know why.

Good to know

  • The supplier can't be paid for extra funding until the seller has paid for it. Until then, a release shows "Payouts disabled… additional funding payment pending".
  • The campaign list flags extra funding the seller hasn't paid with a red icon (see The campaign list).
