Register your agency
Updated 4 min read
Registering an agency on VPA Connect takes two stages. First you request an invitation, and VPA Connect checks your agency. Then you follow the link in the invitation email to set up your account: verify your email and identity, confirm your business details from ASIC, and sign the platform agreement.
Before you start, have ready:
- your agency's ABN (11 digits) or ACN (9 digits) and its real estate agency licence number;
- your agency's website;
- access to your online banking, which ConnectID uses to confirm who you are;
- for a company, the email address of one other director or the company secretary, if the company has more than one director (see Invite co-directors).
Part 1: Request an invitation

- Go to the VPA Connect sign-in page and choose to register. Welcome to VPA Connect opens.
- Select Real Estate Agency (marker 1), then Next (marker 2). The Request Agency Invite form opens.

- Fill in your Trading Name (marker 1), the name your clients know you by, and your Real Estate Agency Licence Number (marker 2).
- Enter your ABN/ACN (marker 3) and choose your State and Type of Real Estate Agency (marker 4). VPA Connect checks the number against the Australian Business Register as you type. Add your website, and for anything other than a company, your business address.
- Fill in your details under Contact Information (marker 5) and select Request Invite. A "Request Submitted!" message appears.
VPA Connect reviews the request. If it's approved, you receive an email inviting you to join, with a link that works for 30 days. If your agency is already registered, the form says so and offers Notify their administrators instead, so they can invite you as staff.
Part 2: Accept and verify yourself
Open the link in the invitation email. A progress bar at the top shows where you are.
- Read the Platform Terms and Conditions, scroll to the end and select Next.
- Check your name and Work Email, which are filled in from the invitation, and select Continue.
- Enter the 6-digit code emailed to you and select Verify. If it hasn't arrived, select Resend code (available after 60 seconds).
- Verify your identity with ConnectID: choose your bank and sign in to your online banking in the window that opens. Your bank confirms your identity details to VPA Connect; VPA Connect doesn't see your bank account. Allow pop-ups for VPA Connect if your browser blocks the window.
- Check the details your bank shared and select Continue.
If ConnectID can't confirm you, close its window and try again. You can also choose to verify with a document instead. If the name your bank shares doesn't match the name on the invitation, the sign-up pauses for a check (see Identity checks and hold emails).
Part 3: Confirm your business
- On Agency Details, your ABN or ACN is filled in. Continue, and VPA Connect looks your company up with ASIC ("Verifying Agency Details"). This can take up to a minute.
- On Confirm Agency Details, check the Registered name, Trading name and Address, tick I confirm that the above details are correct., and select Continue.
- For a company with more than one director, invite the other signatory (see Invite co-directors). If you are the sole director, this step is skipped.
If the lookup times out ("Lookup timeout"), select Go Back and try again.
Part 4: Sign the platform agreement
- Read the platform agreement, then draw your signature or type your full name, and select Next.
- VPA Connect finishes setting up ("Finishing setup, please wait...") and opens your Campaigns page.
Next, start your subscription and set up your agency: see the New agency setup checklist.
If you stop part-way
Your progress is saved after each step. Open the invitation link again, or sign in with the email address you were invited with, and you continue where you left off. If you started on another device or browser, sign in there with your invited email address to finish.
Screens still to do
- Parts 2 to 4: the invitation email, terms, email code, ConnectID, ASIC lookup, directors and signing screens. They need an approved agency request with a real ABN and a ConnectID bank sign-in, which the dev showcase set doesn't have.
