Invite co-directors to sign the platform agreement
Updated 2 min read
Not every director needs to sign up. The platform agreement is signed on your company's behalf, and the rules come from how companies sign documents:
| Your agency is | Who signs |
|---|---|
| A company with one director | That director alone |
| A company with two or more directors | Two directors, or one director and the company secretary |
| A partnership | Both partners |
During registration
After VPA Connect confirms your business with ASIC (see Register your agency), the Authorised Person/s Approval Required step lists the company's directors and secretaries from ASIC. A How this works box repeats the rules above.
- If you are a director or the company secretary, enter the Email address of one other director or the secretary. If you aren't, enter the email addresses of two of them.
- Select Send Invites. "Invitations Sent" appears.
Don't enter more than two email addresses. For a partnership, enter both partners' details; if you are a partner, use your own email address for yourself.
If ASIC lists one director: the step asks Who signs the Platform Agreement? If you are that director, continue and sign yourself. If you aren't, select the option to invite them to sign.
What the invited signatory does: they receive an email inviting them to join VPA Connect. They accept the platform terms, verify their email and their identity with ConnectID, and sign the agreement. When everyone needed has signed, the agency is set up.
After your agency is set up
To add a director later, a Director invites them from the staff table with Director turned on (see Invite staff and change roles). They must verify their identity with ConnectID, and for a company they must be a current director on its ASIC record. If they aren't on the record, the invitation is refused. They don't sign the agreement again.
Screens still to do
- The Authorised Person/s Approval Required step and the How this works box. They need a registration in progress with a real company on ASIC.
